 Re:             Council Information Letter

Village Hall Doors:  The field representative of the manufacturer came to Village Hall and determined the doors were de-laminating through no fault of any other party.  He indicated there is a lifetime warranty and the process of replacement will begin.

Private Roads and Site Condominiums:  John and I are reviewing potential ordinance language to address problems when development occurs along private roads without the benefit of Planning Commission review.  More to follow…

Signage Enforcement: The general educational letter is out today.   Jill is beginning her field audit.  After that, we will get specific with individual property owners about what needs to happen to comply.  I will hand deliver these letters.  Some folks are thinking they are grand fathered so we will be researching that as well.  I expect this to be a good learning curve for everyone.

Vehicles Running the Red Light at Lake Avenue:  Another project Jill is doing is to assess how big a problem this is.  She will be watching and documenting the issue at Savidge and Lake.

Historic Landmark at 202 Prospect:  This construction was approved Tuesday night after a number of modifications. All parties are satisfied with the outcome.

Additional Crosswalk Safety:  I am interested in looking at improvements for the school children and/or the crossing guard on Savidge at Maple Terrace, at Lake Avenue, as well as at River and Lake Street.  I am looking into a solar powered crosswalk sign with flashing lights.  Grants are available through the Muskegon Planning Organization.  The local match is 20%.  The Village’s total would be around $1,200, depending on how many units we are granted.  I am budgeting this match and will meanwhile apply this week.  More to follow after the grant request is reviewed.

NOWS Contract Discussions:  We spoke at length about growth paying for itself.  I invited Ken Zarzecki to come to an upcoming Village Council meeting.  We are coordinating calendars.  More to follow…

MDEQ Grantors Are OK with Fireside Design Re-Use:  I spoke to Susan Sandell and received a go ahead, subject to written confirmation that I will provide.
