 Re:             Council Information Letter

Heritage Festival:  Things are going very well.  Thank you Council for helping the community polish off eight cartons of ice cream.  Much appreciation goes to Anne for setting it all up.  We especially appreciate Doug and his crew who had a few extra last minute items thrown at them and handled them with ease.  An overall great, great team!

Police Department Raffle at Mill Point Park:  Over $250 was raised.  The community was very generous to the Police Department requests for this fundraiser.  Much appreciation goes to the entire team and Adam Hill, intern.

Detour Signage and Closing Jackson on Friday Night:  Special ads are in the paper.  I expect complaints.  This is an experiment.  My e-mail and phone numbers are published for any questions.

Rotary Club and GHAAC Planning Band Shell Ribbon Cutting: Mark your calendars.  The date is Thursday, June 30th at 7:00 PM before a concert.  The Rotary Club is springing for ice cream!  (I will assist in the planning but will not be able to be there as we leave the country the morning of June 29th.  Have an ice cream for me too!)

Contribution from Consumer’s for Mill Point Concerts:  Consumers Foundation is providing $1,000 toward the concerts.

Lakeside Beach Crosswalk and Sidewalk Changes:  These changes started last week with removal of half the bushes and foundation being prepared.

Sidewalk Begins Near School Street:  We are pleased this sidewalk will be completed soon.

Wall Begins at East Village/Central Park Entrance:  This project will be done about two weeks later than anticipated.  I am glad to see the wall going up.  Irrigation, fencing and trees will follow…The planters will be last.

Deadline for Submittal of Petitions for Office:  The deadline for nominating petitions is Tuesday, June 21, 2005 at 4:00 PM. The election is Tuesday, September 13th.

Phone Numbers Are Wrong in Verizon Now:  SBC promised to correct their numbers for the Village.  They got them wrong last year.  Now comes Verizon who also gets it wrong.  People are told the phone line is being checked for trouble.

We will be getting the right numbers posted and remind people whenever possible over the next couple of months.  I would like to get it published and have Verizon pay for it if possible.  More to follow…

Village Hall to Be on Home Tour:  Their Board decided to have Village Hall on their agenda this Christmastime.  More to follow…

New Buffalo Comes To Town:  Downtown merchants and various board members made a journey hear today to better understand our downtown planning and the “Village Way”.
