Re: Council Information Letter
Lakeside Beach Pole Being Moved:
John got Consumers to move the light across the street. Now we are waiting on the
phone company to move the phone. The
area is looking better.
Concerns About Parkhurst Street End:
A neighbor across the street thought we
should do more about mowing. She
indicated someone has been storing some sails on the site. I will review and do what is appropriate.
St. Mary's Plans:
The facility expansion plans are still being
amended. The Church is trying to leave
a building up on the north side of Exchange and not convert the entire area to
parking.
I reiterated the Village's support of
this effort and the possibility of parking flexibility on Exchange. I invited them in to the Village Council
meeting if you have any questions during the demolition vote.
Although the Historic Commission has not
met to review the building slated for demolition, they alerted their members to
look at it before Monday night's meeting.
Lakeside Trail Gap Completion Potential
Grant Review:
We scored high on many
categories but have to work to do on several others.
Control of the easement
is a concern of the State's. I will
work with Bob Sullivan and the owners on this question and may need Council
assistance. Compatibility with
the site because it goes through parking lots is also a concern. I will explain that the area will be
landscaped and separated. They are not
convinced about other communities being served by the project. I will contact Spring Lake Township and
Ferrysburg to see if they can help support this fact. The financial need is low compared to the rest of the
state and cannot do anything about that. They wondered if the site is environmentally safe for recreation and
requested a letter from the MDEQ. This
should be no problem. We got no points
for providing wildlife viewing opportunities or being part of special imitative
of the Trust Fund Board. We cannot do
anything about that either.
I will be making this a high priority between now and the
September 30th deadline.
Auditors Postponed for A Month:
We have been running dual computer systems
since April. This has meant double data
entry. Maribeth and Kristie have been
putting in some long hours as a result. We postponed the audit for a month this
week in order to complete all the data entry needed.
Brush Collection Coming Up:
This is scheduled for the week of August 23rd. For your calendars and to answer any
questions.
Grand Haven Planning Department Asks for Coordination and
Input:
Grand Haven is applying
for a Smart Growth Demonstration grant from the County and wanted to coordinate
their input from their neighbors. I
agreed to provide input and to seek further review as necessary if they get the
grant.
Lloyd's Bayou Lake Board Problem:
A sewer line exists at the wrong level to
complete the dredging. A copy of their
minutes is in your box. They are
seeking direction from the Army Corps of Engineers.
Habitat for Humanity Is a Good Neighbor:
The privacy fences are going up adjacent to
the Lake Street houses.
