Re: Council Information Letter
Wayfinding Signage Refinements:
When we last discussed the signage, some comments were made on how the knots could look more realistic. Ron and I worked on it and have this information enclosed for your review.
Request to Allow
Storage:
Our area behind the fence at Mill Point Park was recently cleaned
up and a request was received to store a recreational vehicle there. I would like Council thought on whether you
see harm in allowing storage there at a fee of $20 per month from November to
March.
Deferment of
Council Priorities:
This was tabled
at the last meeting and given another long agenda I will leave it off the
agenda until next time.
Matt Butler
Lives in Grand Haven Township: I erred at the
last meeting when I said Matt moved out of the Village into Spring Lake
Township. I had the wrong township.
Audit Numbers
Beat Budget for the General Fund:
Maribeth completed the numbers on the General Fund. Due to Lakeside Beach spreading the
expenditures into last fiscal year even though the revenues were mostly
received in the prior year, our budget showed a deficit of $37,000. Our year-end numbers are $23,000 better than this. Our yearend deficit was only $14,000. This means we will end the year with a cash
balance of about $199,000.
Revenues were up
for police fines, Tanglefoot Park and one time state shared revenues ($42,000 to the good). Expenditures were higher in the Village
Manager's office, for Public Works and Parks services ($19,000 to the
bad). The net is $23,000 to the good.
Now that we have
that straight I need to add a twist. Due to GASB-34 accounting changes pertaining to fixed assets, the above
numbers will look different when the auditors are done. They will expense depreciation for the first
time ever in the General Fund so it will look like we spent way over budget. The good news is the cash balance is not
affected by booking depreciation. We
will still exceed budgeted cash by $14,000.
