Re: Council Information Letter
Seniorita’s
Liquor License Not on Agenda: The Storey’s are
working out the bathroom situation and the deck plans with an architect. They will come back when all the details are settled.
Going to Calhoun
County: John and I will
be visiting them tomorrow to see the chip and seal results. The head of the Road Commission is renown there
for his knowledge. Let me know if you
want to go. We will be leaving at 8
AM.
Tree Down That
Threatened Pump Station: This dead tree
was removed this week at the end of River Street. The property owner did not object. Nevertheless, John is also checking on getting an audible
alarm for this station in the future.
Letters on
Exchange Street Parking to Go Out:
Attached is a copy of what I will be sending first to St. Mary’s and
then to the neighbors. I wanted you to
see it ahead of time. Call me if you
have any suggestions.
TIF Plan
Modifications: I have been thinking
about the planned sunset and how more
and more projects are popping up.
Bob Sullivan and I have been working on an alternative approach. I will
kick it around with you in this week’s work session. The goal I have is how to use the funds for Local Streets while
still preserving options for long-term TIF use if needed sometime beyond the
point that the streets need the revenue.
More to follow…
Leak Detection
Program: The percentage
of lost water has recently gone from 3-5% per year to 11-13% per year. This is mysterious both to the North Shore
Communities and to the Utility Division of the Road Commission. We recently met and asked the Road
Commission to get proposals on comprehensive leak detection services. More to follow…
Church Zoning
Code Amendments: I recently asked
LSL to review our zoning code pertaining to the public zones and churches. The
reason is to begin the process of recommending comprehensive updates and
ensuring we are addressing current Church growing pains. More to follow when I have an estimated cost
back from LSL.
Charter Cable
Plans to Increase Rates: These increased
rates are for the more basic services and will amount to about a 10% increase,
effective March, 2005. I have the
complete packet of information on file if interested.
New Decorations
at Barber School: Mary and Anne put
up the tree this week and used a novel approach to making the ornaments. Be sure to check them out on Monday.
Lead and Copper
Testing: John and the crew
recently completed their regular test results.
Everything checked out as it should have. We continue to barely detectable these minerals and are way under
the required limits.
Rotary Club Band
shell Committee Meets: Their meeting is
scheduled for just after press time today. More to follow next week.
