If You Have a Sewer Back-up…
If you experience an overflow or back up of a sewage disposal system, first please contact the Village of Spring Lake Department of Public Works to check the Village’s lines before calling a private plumbing firm. Call Doug Whitley, DPW Supervisor, at 842-1393 if during business hours. Call the non-emergency 911 phone number at 1800-249-0911 if during the weekend or after 4 PM.
If you have back flow damage, you must file a written claim with the Village of Spring Lake, within 45 days after the back up or overflow was discovered. Notice should be mailed to the Village Clerk's office at 102 W. Savidge Street, Spring Lake, MI 49456. Failure to provide the required notice will automatically prevent recovery of damages.

Trees for Village Residents
Each year the Village offers a tree planting program to its residents. Residents can have a tree planted in their yard for half the cost of the tree. The trees are planted in the fall. Sign up is usually held in the summer so that the trees can be ordered or prepared for transplanting.
If you are interested in receiving a tree next fall please contact Mary Paparella at 842-1393 or email at

to place an order and inform us of where the tree would be planted in your yard.
In the fall, after obtaining permission from you to enter your property, the Village Staff will stake the location of the tree and contact MISS DIG prior to planting the tree.
Once planted, the tree is yours to water, care for and enjoy.
The supply is limited to first come, first served. Watch for more information on the website, Facebook and in Crosswinds.
