 Re:         Council Information Letter

Audit Timetable:  This year’s audit will be reviewed by Council on December 5th.  The auditors hope to have a report to us a week in advance.  If not, the audit review will be postponed to December 19th.

Copier Quotes:  Prior to doing an apples-to-apples comparison of costs, Village staff are refining which options we need for the future and getting demo models in to try out.  A recommendation for purchase will likely come to you on December 19th.  Feel free to stop in and see the models if interested.  One demo is removed on Tuesday.  Another arrives on Thursday.  The quoted costs are below budget.

Liberty Street Potential Rezoning:  The need to research the various zones and how they work, or do not work, well together as was discussed at the last Council meeting.  I will plug this review into our Master Plan effort that just got underway.  Our next Master Plan meeting is November 28th.  If Council would like a conclusion sooner than next fall, let me know and we will go a different route.

NOWS and Refund: We will be getting a little money back.  Maybe about $7,000.  This will help the Water Fund.

Village Staff Meeting with Engineer on Water Rate Review:  An initial meeting is set up for Friday at 8:30 AM.  I will most likely ask Council to appoint a Council member to be involved, depending on what direction he suggests tomorrow.  If interested, let me know.

Rite Aid Transferring Liquor License to New Site:  No Council action is necessary.  A letter was sent for your information only.

West Savidge Walkway Relocated North of Lake Pointe:   I authorized a relocated walkway this week due to construction excavation that was needed.  The walkway approximates the planned new walkway route when the project is entirely done.

Increased Potential Costs for Lake Pointe Environmental:  Very little expense beyond the consulting work has occurred to date.  However, the potential costs increased due to details on sanitary sewer flow limits and the various methodologies needed for dewatering.  The total potential amount could approximate $240,000; up from just under $200,000.  These costs are approved by the MDEQ and will be funded by them up front.  The Village’s Brownfield TIF will pay the funds back using the school and other tax captures.  The total payback period is estimated to be 1.9 years.

Field Survey of Lake Pointe Project To Date:  This will occur at 8:30 AM on Tuesday at the site if interested.

Old Public Works Garage Construction on East Exchange:  This reconstruction lagged during the summer.  I asked John to advise the new owner to gear back up and make more progress.

Fire Hydrants Mostly Functional:  Only four were found needing maintenance.  These are being repaired and the Fire Chief alerted by John.

Avalon Floral and De Lass Farm Market to Help Decorate Village Hall:  We will have more wreaths, roping and displays this year since Village Hall is on the Holiday Home Tour.  Mark your calendars for December 3rd or 4th.

New Landscaping in Parking Lot Done:  Doug and crew supplemented what was planted last week.  They salvaged some of the plants from the old Village welcome sign that had to be torn out.

Longview and Franklin:  John had stone placed this week.  It drained well over the weekend.

Open House at the Former Masonic Temple:  Gary and Michelle Hanks are holding an open house on November 11 from 4-7 PM and all Council and staff are invited.

Hot Mix Patching Done:  The asphalt crew worked on Saturday.   We should be in good shape for the winter.  The crack sealing is still planned if weather permits.

***Upcoming Meetings***
