Major and Local Street Rehabilitation
Program Status Report
John Hansen is
handling the experiment on rehabilitating the local streets. John will brief the Council on the exact
timing and details of this experiment and the start date for Franklin,
Longview and the intersection with Parkhust (drainage).
John will also
discuss with Council the results of the sewer line camera work and the water
line testing.
Staff seeks Council
direction on replacement of water lines that are less than 6 inches in
diameter.
Attached is a
possible draft policy as one option.
This policy is predicated on water lines passing a flow and
pressure test before any resurfacing work.
All such lines
“passed” that are planned for street work in the next two years, except
Meridian. John is researching the
possibility of replacing it with Grandview instead.
Another option is to
finance and begin replacement of all water lines less than 6 inches when
street resurfacing work is planned, regardless of the flow and pressure. This action would maintain Meridian on the
list, but tens of thousands of dollars would also need to be found to upgrade
the water line now. Eventually, the
Village will necessarily do so, given the flow test being less than
desired. Selecting a different street
at this time, however, will give the Village staff time to research,
recommend and then budget practical alternatives.
See attached back-up
information.
Your direction is
requested on:
1. Grandview
instead of Meridian;
2. The
draft water line policy; and
3. A
long-term plan to replace the water line(s) under Meridian, and similar
streets, is requested.
