Work Session Discussion Items

Agenda Review

This is the opportunity to discuss any changes to the Agenda, which follows tonight, or to remove items from the Consent Agenda for discussion.

Annual Village Council Tour

The Tour will focus on Local Streets and redevelopments. Attached is a full schedule. The public is specifically encouraged to join the Council to review street and drainage problems at Franklin/Parkhurst (5:45 PM) and at Barber Street (6:45 PM).

Further, a small ceremony to honor George Donner will take place at 6 PM on Lakeside Trail at Lake Avenue.

Lastly, a tour of the Harbor Steel Redevelopment proposal will occur at 6:30 PM on Rotary Drive.

Light Dinner at Village Hall, Upstairs at 7:15 PM

Review of a Street Reconstruction and Maintenance Program for Local Streets and the Street/Utility System ( 7:30 PM)

We did a recent prioritization of street needs that needs Council review. Following the tour and a short special meeting, we ask for your review. Attached is a twenty-page report. Although lengthy, I hope you get a chance to read and reflect on it all. Significant public expenditures and improvements will be the outcome. Your wisdom as to the best alternative funding approach is especially needed. Whether to install curbs or just repair street surfaces is also important.

The cost options range from $2.1 to $2.5 million. The options could address these needs over 14 years or just 3 years. The funding alternatives range from "as we can afford it" to borrowing and special assessments.

I look forward to your review and discussion.

Review of Goals for Upcoming Year (7:45 PM)

Attached are the goals from last year and the results. Your review and update will be sought tonight. We will use the same process to set the priorities as last year, unless I hear differently.
